Penarth Ladies Hockey Club was established in 1896 and was soon regarded as one of the leading clubs in Wales. We still enjoy that position as our continuing successes both at home and on the European stage demonstrate.
Through our comprehensive coaching programmes we are able to cater for all regardless of age or ability. We strive to provide excellent playing opportunities for all our members from our youth section to the highest senior levels, not forgetting our veterans’ team who recently won the Vets competition in 2009.
We currently run three senior teams of which the 1st and 2nd XI’s play in the South Wales premier 1 division with the 3rd XI in the 2nd division. The youth play in the South Wales U15 league, and also U16 and U18 Welsh Club competitions. Our successful indoor squad (league winners in 2009 season) will again be battling it out in both the league and cup competitions.
Not surprisingly we have at the club, current and past internationals that have represented Wales at all age levels.
We have been the proud participants in both indoor and outdoor European competitions, our most recent being the European Trophy which was held in Lille in France over Easter 2009. Penarth will again be representing Wales in the European Trophy competition in 2010 having recently beaten Howardians in the European play offs.
The club also aims to provide a warm welcome to everybody, including supporters and parents and to be recognized as a welcoming inclusive club.
The club has a Code of Conduct for all members.
